Submission of papers focused around the analysis of single or small numbers/groups of objects is strongly discouraged, unless of exceptional quality and international significance. The application of analytical techniques must be underpinned by clear archaeological or methodological research questions and set within established and/or developing research frameworks. The research must be demonstrably contextualised within national and/or international contexts. Case studies, reviews, and short papers are welcomed where an established or new scientific technique sheds light on archaeological questions and debates. Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports publishes papers of excellent archaeological science. It provides a forum for reviews and scientific debate of issues in scientific archaeology and their impact in the wider subject.

The journal focuses on the results of the application of scientific methods to archaeological problems and debates of wide interest.

Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports is aimed at archaeologists and scientists engaged with the application of scientific techniques and methodologies to all areas of archaeology.
